What we do

We strive to achieve gender equity and diversity in research, education, and leadership positions, and to advance the understanding and application of biomechanics for the benefit of all. We offer a variety of programs and services in each of our four pillars, including an online community platform, numerous networking events, and opportunities to highlight members' science. We also actively promote gender equity and diversity within the field of biomechanics.

To strengthen the community of women in biomechanics, we have developed a platform on Slack where members are able to network and seek support for professional issues and celebrate each other's successes. We encourage all of our members to use Slack to create their own groups, forge partnerships and create their own meet ups. Are you a caregiver looking to catch up with fellow caregivers? There's a channel for that. Are you a new PhD student, nervous in an all-male lab, and battling imposter syndrome? Good news. There is a channel for that too! Jump on and start the discussion!

We host monthly teleconference meetings and workshops aimed to provide resources and professional training to our community. We also collaborate with national and international biomechanics societies on "Women in Science" events.
